Versatile Platforms – The Streaming Revolution

The writer of “The MobKing”, Ciro Dapagio spoke with La Voz de Almeria in February about the current state of television, among other topics. In a feature article, Ciro Dapagio shared with the public his views on the future of television and the relevance of streaming.

While the ability to access videos online has been a part of the technological platform for more than two decades, watching television on an actual television is somewhat antiquated today. With every outlet offering streaming options, today’s viewers can watch television at their leisure and from many platforms.

Netflix was the first company to begin this revolution, allowing consumers to have more control over television options. When it first began, it dominated the industry simply by offering a more convenient, versatile movie rental platform. The company would go onto creating a streaming platform, which would evolve into a platform that would produce its narratives.

However, the advent of Netflix and other streaming platforms have other effects. For one, a person does not necessarily have to be at home to watch television. Today’s technology allows for streaming on a variety of platforms, including the mobile phone. A person could be at the grocery store or waiting at the bus stop and could watch their favorite program from their device (i.e. tablet or phone).
